Paid Internships at Commercial Production Companies

Production companies in Greater Los Angeles are offering veterans 3-month paid internships in a new program administered by the Association of Independent Commercial Producers (AICP) in partnership with The Veterans Project and Goodwill Southern California.

The AICP is the association that represents U.S.-based companies that specialize in producing commercials in various mediums (film, video, digital) for advertisers and agencies.

The
AICP internships are entry-level training positions with the potential for advancement and long-term employment. Veterans will learn about the daily workings of production, postproduction and other aspects of the commercial production industry. Duties may include research, learning elements required to put together a commercial shoot, picking up meals, office errands, learning the role of each crew and company member, assisting the production or postproduction teams, making maps for shoot days, interacting with crew members on prep days and working on the set with the production team.

The Veterans Project conducted interviews on October 26, 2012, and select applicants will soon be invited to participate in a seminar that will provide an in-depth overview of the commercial production industry, with the opportunity to meet with industry executives looking to hire.
